A Short Review of Demon Attack

Published

You have been marooned on the ice planet Krybor. Your only defense, your trusty laser cannon.

Demon-Attack.jpgThe enemy, legions of demons attacking from above, wave after wave. Each demon wave more nefarious than the last. Each weapon more destructive. Some demons divide into smaller, harder to hit demons after an initial hit. When one of these smaller demons is hit its twin will attempt to dive bomb your lone cannon. For demons, their sense of camaraderie seems very highly developed.

Demon Attack was produced by Imagic in 1982. Imagic was a short-lived game developer that produced games for multiple platforms. Imagic's box art, second only to Atari's own, was incredibly detailed, with Demon Attack's box art being particularly Judas Priest-ish with it's battling chrome demons. What that has to do with the ice planet of Krybor, your guess is as good as mine.

It's repetitive, like most space shooters, but it's also fun. Of all of the Atari space shooters, and there were a lot, this is one I always come back to. It's not quite as much fun as 2600 Space Invaders, but with all of that game's variations, it&rsquos understandable. Still, great game. You should pick it up.
